Pennun koulutus / Puppy training

Koiran koulutuksen yhtenä tärkeänä osana on pennun sosiaalistaminen.

Omistaja on korvausvelvollinen koiransa aiheuttamista vahingoista.

The American Pit Bull Terrier is a rather stubborn dog and therefore adequate training is very important. APBT training requires more repetitions than, for example, service dog training. If you do not know how to start training, ask for help from a professional. A variety of puppy meetings and puppy classes are to be served for puppies. If you feel that you are not at all suitable for a dog trainer, do not get a dog.

Puppy training should begin immediately from the moment the dog arrives at his own home. It is very important that the puppy is taught the basics from the very first moment, e.g. in connection with play. If there are several family members in the family, e.g. children, everyone should participate in the training of the dog, although the main responsibility for the training of the dog is always with an adult. It is also important that the same short commands are used in training as the dog does not understand long sentences. In training, you must always remember to use the name of the dog, so that the dog knows that someone wants to tell him something important. If there are several dogs in the family, the dogs should be trained separately so that the commands go to the right address.

One of the important components of dog training is the socialization of the puppy. The puppy should be allowed to get to know strangers and dogs on their own terms. When getting to know foreign dogs, you should make sure that the situations are safe and that the foreign dog is not aggressive. An unsuccessful encounter can leave lifelong traces on the puppy, for example, the fear of dogs of a certain size. As an adult, this can occur, for example, in fights and aggression towards other dogs. It must also be remembered that socialization does not mean that always and everywhere the puppy should be allowed to greet all people and dogs. The puppy also needs to learn to bypass foreign dogs and people without caring about them.

The dog should always be under the control of its owner in all situations. An untrained dog may be dangerous to people outside the family and to foreign dogs. In the worst case, the dog may be out of control, as the “host of the family”, dangerous even for his own family. It should always be remembered that the dog owner is responsible for his dog in every place and situation. The owner is liable for damages caused by his dog. In the worst case, the owner may have to give up his beloved pet because of its bad behavior.

If your dog has a tendency to lash out at other dogs and even humans, teach your dog to use a muzzle if necessary. It may also be necessary to visit the veterinarian.
