Amerikanpitbullterrieri (Apbt) perhekoirana / APBT as a family dog

Amerikanpitbullterrieri on loistava perhekoira. Koiran on tasapuolisesti totuttava kaikkiin perheenjäseniin.

Samat asiat pätevät on kyseessä mikä tahansa koirarotu.

Vieraiden ihmisten tullessa koira kotiin, täytyy muistaa, että tutustuminen tehdään koiran ehdoilla. Ei ole suotavaa, että vieras ihminen menee koira "iholle" tervehtimään vaan koiran täytyy itse saada tutustua uuteen ihmiseen mm. hajuaistinsa avulla.

American Pit Bull Terrier is a great family dog. It is very human lover by nature and loyal to their pack. It is good to remember when a dog enters the family that a dog is everyone's dog, not just one member of the family. The dog must equally get used to all members of the family. Although the “wiser” say that a dog doesn't know how to be jealous, experience tells us that at least APBT knows how to be extremely jealous, for example, of another dog. This is good to take into account if the family already has a dog.

APBT is also child loved one and get along well with children. However, it should always be remembered that children should be taught to treat a dog from a small puppy as an animal, not as a stuffed animal or an other toy that can cuddle and retouch to a liking extent at any time. Although the APBT is the dog of the whole family, small children and dog should never be left in the same state unattended. One must always remember that a dog is nevertheless an animal without logical thinking ability, and what works on its instincts.

In many respects, the dog has been sadly nowadays humanized in many ways, for example, by putting on clothes that it does not necessarily need, etc. However, one must remember where the dog comes from, even if the current dog is a domesticated form of its ancestors. You can never know how, for example, foreign children relate to a dog and vice versa. Although the APBT has a very high pain threshold, something might happen among children that goes beyond the dog's tolerance. Unfortunately, there have been very serious accidents around the world, among other things, when a child has fallen and jumped on a dog.

A small child is also not capable of walking a powerful dog, but the responsibility for walking is always with adults. Overall, the responsibility for everything related to the dog in the family rests always with adults, never children. The same things apply is the case of any breed of dog.

When foreign people come to the dog home, one must remember that the acquaintance is done on the dog's terms. It is not desirable for a foreign person to go to the dog “skin” to say hello, but the dog himself must get to know the new person by means of his sense of smell.
